Learning to Live in Russia
The aim of the study aid "Learning to Live in Russia" is to help foreigners who are planning to come, or have already come, to Russia to master the communication skills needed in real-life situations — at university, in transport, on the street, at the post office, at the bank, on holiday and so on. A distinctive feature of the material offered in the book is its practical focus and its account of contemporary Russian realities.
The aid can be used in Russian universities as a supporting course for the second-semester programme of the preparatory faculty, and also as a corrective, supporting or main study aid within bachelor's and master's programmes for foreign students of all fields and profiles.
The aid will also be useful for people living outside Russia and mastering Russian outside the language environment and Russian reality.
While working with the aid, learners have the opportunity to consolidate and develop the competences needed to pass the Russian-as-a-foreign-language examination at the TORFL-1 level (B1) and to master to a considerable extent the lexical and grammatical material of level B2, gaining skills in its practical use in specific life situations.
The aid pays equal attention to developing all types of speech activity. Each section contains structured grammatical material presented in the form of tables and diagrams. At the end of the aid there is a Grammar Commentary, convenient for summarising and systematising the grammar of the First and Second Certification Levels (B1 and B2).
