Russia to the sound of wheels

The textbook is designed for students who continue to study the Russian language and have successfully mastered the B1 level. Together with the foreign student Max, the students will “travel” by train across the whole of Russia, from Vladivostok to Veliky Novgorod, hear the voices of people from different parts of Russia, and join in shared reflections on what concerns a modern person, regardless of their origin and place of residence. The manual includes various types of tasks: listening exercises, creating dialogues, preparing creative works, writing prompts for artificial intelligence, and analyzing messages from fellow students. Most tasks involve interpreting what has been heard or read and establishing connections between the text and the student’s own experience. The authors propose a new type of task — active reading, which helps to engage the entire group in working with text fragments, assigning each person a specific role. Handouts are provided for this task. The study guide on speech development is intended for use with a teacher in a group or individually for students who are mastering the Russian language learning program at the B2–C1 level.
